Security of your pension

The Trustee Company is known as the BOC Pension Scheme Trustees Limited. The TrusteeResponsible for looking after the assets of the BOC Pension Scheme on behalf of the beneficiaries. Some of the Trustee Directors are appointed by the Company and some are member nominated. is responsible for administering the SchemeThe BOC Pension Scheme., which it does in accordance with:

• the Trust Deed and RulesThe Trust Deed and Rules (as amended from time to time) are the formal legal documents which govern the BOC Pension Scheme and set out your entitlement to benefits. Some of the Trustee Directors are appointed by the CompanyThe BOC Group Limited. and some are elected from and by the membership through the mechanics of the Pensions Advisory Council (PAC).

The Trustee makes use of specialist Advisers and administrators.

The Trust status of the Scheme means that members have additional legal protection.

Is my pension secure?

The Scheme’s assets are looked after by the Trustee and are kept completely separate from the Company's assets. The assets are invested entirely in the BOC Pension Investment Fund (BOCPIF).

External Investment Managers are employed to invest BOCPIF's assets. These managers are regulated by the Investment Management Regulatory Organisation (IMRO).

The Scheme’s accounts are audited annually. The Trustee produces a formal Report and Accounts each year which shows the financial development and management of the Scheme. A shorter and less technical annual summary of the Report and Accounts is also sent to members and PensionersA person who is receiving a pension from the Scheme..

An actuarial valuation is performed at least every three years to assess the Scheme’s funding level and provide advice on the level of Company contributions to be paid in the future. You can request a copy of the Valuation Report from BOC Pension Services. The Scheme is also eligible for the Pension Protection Fund (PPF).
